Tonya Volk is an Alabama native that has lived in Virginia Beach for the past 10 years with her husband Kris; they share three children, two girls and one boy ages 31, 26 and 18 as well as two grandchildren. Tonya earned a BS from the University of Montevallo, in Alabama double majoring in Human Services and Sociology. She began her professional career working with the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce as an event coordinator. She then was employed as a Deployment Specialist working for Fleet and Family Support Services at Little Creek Amphibious Base, assisting Sailors and Marines with life skills and also supporting family and deployment readiness.
She found her passion for working with at-risk youth while with the State of Alabama. There she assisted the youth in her district with employment goals and training needs, particularly those in Group Homes and Foster Care.
In 2012 Tonya found herself back in Virginia volunteering her photography services for CWW Prom Event and later Santapalooza, wanting to give back to her community but particularly this vulnerable population.
After owning a successful photography business for 18 years she will be closing it this year with the sole purpose of helping to grow the CWW programs as the Program Coordinator. She is excited to share her experience and artistic talents with Connect With a Wish and the beautiful children in foster care that we support.
